Welcome to The Nest on Fifth

The Nest on Fifth offers a compelling blend of convenience and urban charm nestled in the vibrant Gaslamp District of San Diego. Rated 4.1, this modest yet efficient hotel provides guests with studio-style apartments that feel more like home than a traditional hotel stay. The location at 552 Fifth Ave puts visitors just steps away from lively nightclubs, trendy bars, diverse eateries, and cultural spots such as the Balboa Theatre and Horton Plaza Park, making it an ideal hub for those looking to immerse themselves in the city's dynamic downtown energy.

Guests appreciate the clean, well-maintained rooms featuring kitchenettes equipped with a microwave, stovetop burners, fridge, and a sink. This setup allows travelers to enjoy the freedom of light cooking, adding a layer of comfort for longer stays. Free Wi-Fi and air conditioning contribute to the functional ambiance, though some guests have noted occasional issues with climate control.

The Nest on Fifth’s self-service model appeals primarily to independent travelers who value straightforward, no-frills accommodations. While there is parking available nearby for a daily fee, the entrance is somewhat discreet, and potential visitors should prepare for the urban soundtrack characteristic of the Gaslamp District. Music and nightlife are vibrant next door, which while energizing for some, may require earplugs for those seeking quieter nights.

Despite its compact scale and lack of amenities like a fitness center, pool, or on-site restaurant, The Nest on Fifth remains a practical choice for travelers drawn to the hustle of downtown San Diego. It balances affordability with accessibility, delivering clean, comfortable lodging in the heart of an upbeat neighborhood. For guests who prioritize location and functionality over luxury, this brand offers a genuine taste of San Diego’s eclectic nightlife and cultural vibrancy.

For the money, it is a decent stay. In the heart of the gas lamp district which is nice if you are looking to bar hop. The entrance is kinda hidden, you have to park up the street at a parking garage. it is $15 a day. Our room was clean. We had the studio on the 3rd floor. be prepared, It is loud! there is a club right next door so there is music going late. bring ear plugs if you have trouble sleeping in that environment. I have a noise machine so I had no problem. Complaints, elevator is obnoxiously loud. the entry way floors are dirty. If you are looking to save a couple hundred of dollars on your stay, it is a good option. I would stay again.

Nest on Fifth is a quaint, cute little place in the middle of all the action in the Gaslamp district. We stayed in a room for a couple of nights. Fortunately, the building is within walking distance of a bunch of great bars, a CVS, and restaurants. Our room had a kitchenette, which is great for days when we didn't feel like eating out. Some things we didn't like so much were the loud noises from the surrounding bars and the lack of parking. But we appreciate that ear plugs were supplied. There is a parking structure nearby, but it is not free. We did stay here right before Comicon, so parking was difficult to find. Also, keep in mind that the rooms are like studio apartments. We didn't mind this, but just know that you'd be cooking and sleeping in the same room. Overall, I'd recommend Nest on Fifth if you are fairly young and enjoy the San Diego night life.

I come to SD once a year for work, and this is my go-to place to stay. Completely self-serve, but you can request just about anything you need. Only con is their body wash; I bring my own soap.

We stayed the weekend at this quaint studio apt. It is kind of a cross between a hotel and a hostel. There's a modern, clean private bathroom. Kitchenette with microwave, two stovetop burners, sink, and fridge. Location is spot on! Right in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. It's right above a Cuban restaurant so we were concerned about possible noise but even though you could hear music in the stairwell and hallway once you're in the room...peace and quiet. Would recommend.

Great option. No frills, but comfortable efficiency apartment style makes a great value. Clean and comfortable. The kitchenette is reasonably stocked. I will use them again.

Great place to stay right in the heart of down town. The place is very clean felt like home. Only down side is that if your not out late the noise is notice able if your trying to get an early night rest.

I loved staying here! If you can't sleep through a little noise though, seek another place to stay. You can definitely hear music from the bars around you when you stay here. Personally, I like a little background noise so I slept really well. The room was comfortable and close to everything! The Cuban restaurant nextdoor is AMAZING and there is a uber pick up point right out front! I would definitely come back :)

Our room was nice and spacious but the AC didn't work at all. But everything was clean and the decor was nice. The location of the hotel itself was very convenient and was within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, and clubs. I would definitely stay here again.
